Louisa Clark lebt in einem kleinen englischen Touristenstädtchen und arbeitet in einem Cafe. Doch plötzlich verliert sie ihren Job, ihr Freund Patrick verfällt in den Trainingswahn und im Jobcenter bekommt sie einen Job angeboten, der ihr gar nicht entspricht. So steht sie vor Wills Haustür. Wills Mutter erklärt ihr was zu tun ist: lediglich Will nicht länger als 10 minuten alleine lassen und ein bisschen Haushaltskram. Das ist ja gar nicht schwer. Als sie Will kennen lernt, ändert sie ihre Mienung schnell. Er ist ein richtiges Ekelpaket. Will ist 30 Jahre alt, sitzt im Rollstuhl und ist von Hals abwärts gelähmt. Das ändert nichts daran, dass er ihr leid täte, denn mit seiner stichelnden Art bringt er sie oft zur Weißglut. Lou würde am liebsten ihren Job hinschmeißen,aber ihre Familie braucht das Geld. Bald erfährt Lou den Grund ihrer Anstellung und das ändert alles. Mit der Zeit entwickeln die Beiden auch eine Freundschaft und wissen wie sie miteinander umgehen müssen. Lou gibt alles für ihren Job und kämpft um ihr eigenes und Wills Leben.
Ein unscheinbares Buch, das mich zu Tränen rührte. Diese Geschichte wird wohl zu meinem persönlichen Lesehighlight 2013. Ich bin tief ergriffen von der Beziehung dieser beiden Menschen. Will ist verbittert. Er ist reich, war aktiv und genoss das Leben in vollen Zügen. Nun ist er gelähmt und kann nichts alleine machen. Zudem hat er ständig Schmerzen oder Infektionen - keine Aussicht auf Besserung. Lou ist ene graue Maus, verliert ihren Job, kommt aus einer Sozialsiedlung und hat einen Freund, der sich nicht wirklich um sie kümmert und den Sport über alles stellt. Will und Lou wären sich unter anderen Umständen kaum begegnet und hätten sich auch nicht verstanden. Doch so blieb ihnen nichts anderes übrig und sie entwickeln eine Beziehung. Diese Geschichte ist eine großartige Liebesgeschichte zweier völlig unterschiedlicher Menschen und zeigt, wie stark jemand en anderes Leben beeinflussen und jemanden zu einem anderen Menschen machen kann.
Lou und Will reißen den Leser in einen Bann und man fühlt richtig mit - zum Himmel hochjauzend und zu Tode betrübt. Die Autorin schafft es, die Gefühle so zu vermitteln, als wäre man mitten drin. Die Tränen kullerten zahlreich, einfach weil diese Geschichte das Herz berührt.
Ein absolut empfehlenswertes Buch, das zum Nachdenken anregt und einiges über das Leben und die Liebe lehrt.

I am a very interested person in knowing things so different as the culture, the way of life of the inhabitants of our planet, the fauna, the flora, and the landscapes of all the countries of the world etc. in summary, I am a person that enjoys traveling, learning and respecting people's diversity from all over the world.
I would love to travel and meet in person all the aspects above mentioned, but unfortunately as this is very expensive and my purchasing power is quite small, so I devised a way to travel with the imagination in every corner of our planet. A few years ago I started a collection of used stamps because trough them, you can see pictures about fauna, flora, monuments, landscapes etc. from all the countries. As every day is more and more difficult to get stamps, some years ago I started a new collection in order to get traditional letters addressed to me in which my goal was to get at least 1 letter from each country in the world. This modest goal is feasible to reach in the most part of countries, but unfortunately it’s impossible to achieve in other various territories for several reasons, either because they are countries at war, either because they are countries with extreme poverty or because for whatever reason the postal system is not functioning properly.
For all this I would ask you one small favor:
Would you be so kind as to send me a letter by traditional mail from Austria? I understand perfectly that you think that your blog is not the appropriate place to ask this, and even, is very probably that you ignore my letter, but I would call your attention to the difficulty involved in getting a letter from that country, and also I don’t know anyone neither where to write in Austria in order to increase my collection. a letter for me is like a little souvenir, like if I have had visited that territory with my imagination and at same time, the arrival of the letters from a country is a sign of peace and normality and an original way to promote a country in the world.
